What you will learn in a week
Emphasis on practice. We spend 80% of the time on the water, helming, docking, and anchoring. Theory is discussed in the evening at the table, not in a classroom.
Practical training on the water
- Marina docking (side-to, mooring, finger pier)
- Anchoring, mooring buoys, and tying to the shore
- Sail handling, tacking and jibing
- Night sailing and night navigation
- Rescue maneuvers (Man Overboard)
Exam theory
- Navigation, working with nautical charts
- Maritime law and ColRegs
- VHF Radio communication
- Meteorology and reading forecasts
- Safety and first aid at sea
A week in Šibenik day by day
- Sobota 15-17h
Meeting in Mandalina marina
Embarkation, welcome, briefing. Depending on the weather, we either set sail immediately or spend a quiet evening in Šibenik; the center is a few minutes' walk away.
- Sunday
First day on the water
Safety rules, setting sail, boat introduction. We practice sail handling, tacking, and jibing. Evening at anchor, learning chart work and VHF communication.
- Monday
Marina maneuvers and anchoring
Side-to mooring, Mediterranean mooring, anchoring, buoy mooring, tying to the shore. These are the skills that decide if you will dare to go on your own later.
- Tuesday
Theoretical exam
Morning sailing and fast tacks. At 15:00 theoretical exam at the port authority in Šibenik. Evening according to mood and weather.
- Wednesday, Friday
Half-day captain
Real-mode practice, each day one of the participants becomes the captain for half a day. Night sailing on Thursday. License handover on Friday evening.
- Saturday
Disembarkation
Breakfast, farewell, heading home with a license in your pocket.
